The Economist Croatia Business Summit

¸

President of the International Institute for Climate Action (IICA), Mrs. Pujo Tadić had the honor of participating in The Economist Croatia Business Summit in Esplanade, on the panel “Sustainable business: Strategies for a greener future”, where she was in the pleasant company of the director of HUP, Mrs. Irena Weber discussed the challenges and opportunities in the green economy, the integration of sustainability into business practices, and the regulation and legislation that affect them.

In her speech, she referred in more detail to the main tool for achieving sustainability, in other words ESG, as one of the key links in climate change. As always, she encouraged for mutual connection in the form of actual collaborative cooperation between the financial and economic sectors, as well as the government of the Republic of Croatia, in order to build the adaption strategy as quickly and compactly as possible. The focus was also on the importance of employee education in the field of ESG as well as the integration of ESG criteria in companies, which contributes to the sustainability, resilience and competitiveness of companies, and to the faster implementation of the climate change adaptation strategy to build the resilience of society as a whole.

It should certainly be emphasized that Croatia has potential as a small country in the context of already realized achievements in the field of renewable energy, adoption of the Low Carbon Strategy, etc., but for the sake of everyday global challenges in the field of this important topic, continuous and joint work is needed (like with the panellists at the conference, Mrs. Hana Huzjak, Maja Pokrovac, Slađana Ćosić) and presentation of concrete solutions.
