Marija Pujo Tadić appointed Special Advisor/Envoy for Climate Action of the Republic of Croatia

The President of the International Institute for Climate Action (IICA), Ms. Marija Pujo Tadić, has been appointed as the Special Advisor/Envoy for Climate Action of the Republic of Croatia.

“There are three basic tasks of such a person: to advise the Government of the Republic of Croatia on complex multilateral climate change issues, encouraging climate action at the national, regional and international levels; to represent the interests of the Republic of Croatia on climate-related issues, contributing to global initiatives and negotiations, and to cooperate with stakeholders and other EU countries on the development and implementation of strategies for sustainable environmental practices, promoting Croatia’s commitment to climate action. Namely, the role of special advisors for climate action, the so-called Special Envoy for Climate Action, is extremely important and complex because the task of the “climate envoy” is to promote EU policies and interests in this specific area in other countries and the region through climate diplomacy, and to act in a way that they are first and foremost familiar with the activities of the EU, and thus Croatia, but also to be more ambitious in achieving climate goals in this global challenge,” said Ms. Pujo Tadić

In an interview for Novi list d.d. – Pogled Magazin, Ms. Pujo Tadić discussed the aforementioned designation as well as the meaning of “Climate Action” and the issue of attitudes and efforts to continue climate action given the overall geopolitical situation.

“When it comes to climate change, skin color, religion, gender or anything else does not matter, and its consequences inexorably affect all people equally. We must start preparing and adapting now, yesterday…tomorrow is already too late. That is why the slogan for “Climate Action” is – the time is NOW! Less talk, more action! Let’s act – now – TOGETHER! “WEATHER EXTREMES HAVE MADE PEOPLE AWARE OF CLIMATE CHANGE, NOT ANY POLICIES PER SE!”, said Ms. Pujo Tadić.
