BIOGRAPHY

Dipna Gunnoo is a fully bilingual (English and French) and dual-qualified lawyer specialized in international arbitration, mediation, and international business law.  Splitting her time between Paris and Mauritius, she has worked on a wide range of high-profile cross-border matters, often relating to or within the African and European continents, in various sectors and areas.

She also teaches international arbitration at the Mauritian campus of the Université Paris 2 Panthéon-Assas in its LL.M and LL. B programs. She also delivers, on a pro-bono basis, lectures/training workshops (online or in person) in international arbitration and mediation.

She has been appointed as the Regional Coordinator for Africa of Young ICCA since January 2022.

Dipna was selected in 2022 for a Chevening Award by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office of the UK Government and is currently spending an academic year (2022-2023) at the School of International Arbitration of Queen Mary University of London (LLM in Comparative and International Dispute Resolution).

Before going back into private practice, Dipna was the Head of the MCCI Arbitration & Mediation Center (MARC) which is the dispute resolution centre of the Mauritius Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) where she managed, for 2 years and a half, arbitration and mediation cases seated in Mauritius and abroad.

She has previously worked in the international arbitration and mediation teams of Dechert LLP (Paris office), Derains & Gharavi International (Paris office) and Brown Rudnick LLP (Paris and London offices), as well as the French-Mauritian law firm PLCJ in Mauritius. Dipna has also worked for 2 years as Counsel of LCIA-MIAC Arbitration Centre in Mauritius which was a joint-venture between the Mauritius International Arbitration Centre and the London Court of International Arbitration which is one of the leading institutions for international arbitration and mediation matters.

Admitted to the Paris Bar as an Avocat à la Cour and to the Bar of Mauritius as a Barrister, Dipna is a Mauritian national who is a graduate of the Sorbonne Law School (Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne) in Paris. She holds master’s degrees in Anglo-American Business Law (Sorbonne Law School, Paris) and in Global Business Law and Governance under the Alliance Program with Columbia Law School (New York City), Sciences Po Paris and Sorbonne University (Paris). She also followed training programs in arbitration and mediation delivered by the Centre for mediation and arbitration of Paris (Centre de Médiation et d’Arbitrage de Paris) and the Singapore International Arbitration Academy (Centre for International Law of the National University of Singapore).
