Anita holds a bachelor’s degree in Croatology and Sociology, a master’s degree in Journalism and Public Relations, and a Doctorate in Political Science from the University of Zagreb.
As an accomplished and published security professional with over 20 years of experience in national and international affairs and academia, she has actively participated in numerous expert working group meetings, cross-cutting thematic events, and high-level conferences, covering different security-related topics.
As an adjunct Associate Professor at Zagreb University and Adjunct Faculty at the George C. Marshall Center for Security Studies in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, her teachings have covered subjects on geopolitics and global security, and other security-related topics such as national security and counter-terrorism strategies, push and pull factors in radicalization, risk assessment, radicalization, and terrorism prevention, to include training programs for security practitioners and other stakeholders.
As an external expert on gender issues in terrorism and counterterrorism, and on the role of women and children in terrorism, she has been involved in several EU, Council of Europe, OSCE, and UNODC-led projects and activities. Since 2016, she has been a member of the European Commission-led Radicalization Awareness Network (RAN) Pool of Experts for preventing radicalization of women and children, and for the rehabilitation and reintegration of returning Foreign Terrorist Fighters (FTFs) and their families from conflict zones.
She has extensively published scientific papers and book chapters on topics related to national and international security issues in some of the most relevant international publications.
